The Five & Fixed Way

I work with clients 1:1, primarily dealing with pulling on a lead, recall and behaviour around the home.

After discussing your requirements on the telephone, I will meet both you and your pet in your home to begin training. A detailed pack will be left with you after your first session, underlining the skills you will learn so you continue to build your bond.

In session one I’ll lay the foundations for your training package by explaining the importance of:

Tone

Drives

Abreactions

How to set your dog up for success, not failure.

I will have your dog walking under control at three different paces by the end of your first session, and demonstrate a silent obedience display with distractions in a nearby park on session two.

Session three focuses on obedience, something that many dog owners crave and believe is out of their reach. I will prove otherwise by teaching you, so that you and your dog will demonstrate a complete breakdown of obedience drills.

How to hold a lead properly

How to come to a sit together so your dog is not in front of you in a dominant position

When to use touch praise

How to read and anticipate your dog and his actions before it’s too late to

control and correct the unwanted behaviour.

Sessions four and five deal with successful recall – nailing this is one of your key responsibilities as a dog owner. At the very least it can save you embarrassment, at the other end of the scale it could save your dog’s life.

However, if your dog doesn’t need recall training, I can offer three sessions instead of five to meet your requirements.

There are no upfront costs; payment is made at the end of your sessions once you are satisfied.

All training is carried out with voice and lead control. I do not give treats to your dog as bribes and neither are you expected to purchase gimmicky equipment that will not be used again.

Whereas some trainers talk a lot and seem to do little, I go hands on with your dog to guide and explain the behaviour that I’m expecting of it.

I will take time to explain to you the learning cycle of a dog, which both you and I will teach your pet.

A dog learns from what he or she has been shown and taught – you will learn from me using my wealth of experience and fun training methods.
